Asahi Beer acquires domestic sales rights for Scotch whisky "Cutty Sark"

 Asahi Beer Co., Ltd. has acquired the domestic sales rights for the Scotch whiskey "Cutty Sark" owned by French spirits and liquor manufacturing and sales company La Martiniquaise. Sales will begin on April 1. "Cutty Sark" is a Scotch whiskey that was first released in 1923 and will celebrate its 100th anniversary in 2023. The brand name "Cutty Sark" comes from the British clipper ship of the same name. The flagship product, "Cutty Sark Original," has a light taste characterized by herbal and vanilla scents and a refreshing fruity aftertaste.


By starting to handle "Cutty Sark," Asahi aims to strengthen its portfolio of Scotch whiskeys and respond to the increasingly diverse consumer needs, with the aim of further activating the whiskey market and pursuing customer satisfaction by creating "deliciousness that exceeds expectations and a fun culture of life."

Suntory to release "-196°C Flash Frozen Unsweetened Shikuwasa" for a limited time

 Suntory will be releasing the "-196°C Flash Frozen Unsweetened Shikuwasa" for a limited time starting May 30th. With an alcohol content of 6%, the 350mL can will be priced at around 148 yen and the 500mL can at around 200 yen (excluding tax). "-196°C" is a long-selling brand that has been on the market since 2005. It is a non-sweet chu-hi with a robust fruit flavor, made by instantly freezing and grinding whole fruits. For this product, Suntory uses its proprietary "-196°C freezing method" to immerse Shikuwasa that has been flash-frozen and ground at -196°C in vodka, to extract the flavors trapped in the fruit peel. The "-196°C freezing method" has been further evolved to provide a firm fruit texture without the sweetness.
